Lead Game Designer at Peloton (View all jobs) New York, NY ABOUT THE ROLE Peloton is seeking an experienced game design leader to drive the creative vision and execution of our gamified fitness experiences. As our Lead Game Designer, you will design and optimize the player experience. Your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity will help craft gamified fitness experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work with every tool at hand to create innovative, user-focused designs that can help millions of members achieve their fitness goals. Success in this role will mean not only being able to drive the team to execute on your vision for the end-user experience, but also to help build a leading game design and development discipline within our organization as we continue to scale our team and ambitions. YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON Partner with the product lead and other disciplines to define the overall vision for the game Become an expert in how to build engaging interactive fitness experiences that are both fun and provide a great workout, and develop related game design best practices Collaborate directly with Product Managers, User Researchers, Product Designers, Content Designers, Artists, Data Analysts, and Engineers to design and test new experiences Work with instructors and other fitness authorities to ensure everything we design is grounded in effective training methods Work with research, product & engineering to conduct rapid prototyping and experimentation of interactive mechanics across our products Outline high-level designs for systems, gameplay loops, and moment-to-moment gameplay that drive member engagement, social interaction, and pursuit of fitness goals Be able to describe at a low level, in detail, the gameplay systems the player will engage with to ensure a compelling experience Share ideas, concepts, and design specifications in helpful, clear formats, then work with an agile development team to execute these designs YOU BRING TO PELOTON Experience and/or passion for how gaming can be applied to the fitness 6+ years of experience in professional game design Curious, creative, collaborative, and have a preference for using telemetry to validate your design thinking Experience working on a live game, partnering with product management to design solutions in response to player feedback and analytics Strong user-centered design philosophy and a relentless drive for finding the fun Exceptional communication skills, especially the ability to work closely with experts in a different field, understand their needs, and translate them into the software. Experience working in an agile team and building games iteratively Highly collaborative and willing to give and accept constructive feedback Self starter; ability to act autonomously While not required, these qualities are likely to make you a great fit: Experience working with Unity and communicating your vision with interactive prototypes Experience leading a team of game designers and mentoring other designers Experience designing interactive experiences for non-traditional input devices Experience designing interactive experiences outside of the traditional gaming industry ABOUT PELOTON: Peloton uses technology + design to connect the world through fitness, empowering people to be the best version of themselves anywhere, anytime.
