We believe in immersive experiences, telling stories and sharing experiences with technology, and in an unwritten future with limitless potential About the Job: Wevr, creator of TheBlu (Sundance), Gnomes & Goblins (Jon Favreau) and the recently released Harry Potter VR experiences is searching for a Technical Director to help lead development of a brand new Oculus Quest sports game. About The Role: - Help define technical strategy for the project - Supervise, review and confirm that game developers’ strategies will achieve the creative game play required, in particular by vetting implementation strategies for water physics, interactive visual effects and stylization - Maintain regular cadence of observation over development team to ensure developers are meeting project goals - Review/track/stress test deliverables from an overseas development team, and provide insight and guidance to said overseas team as required - Conduct research and find innovative ways to complete technical aspects of project development - Review requirements, budgets and schedules related to key technologies used by the team - Review methodology, coding practices, technical briefs and implementation of engineering team - Help guide design and art directors to establish technical guidelines Supervise proper lighting as predetermined in team production meetings - Identify technical risks and propose contingency plans - Maintain regular internal communication with technical teams and senior leadership - Help determine project scope and make sure quality expectations are met About You: - At least 5+ years experience as a Technical Director in game, VR, animation or real-time/interactive entertainment development, or a similar role - A plus if you have experience with creating water physics - Experience developing AAA titles on multiple console platforms - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent - Expert with Unity or Unreal and full understanding of its architecture - Exceptional knowledge of programming languages and software engineering practices - Proficiency in C++ - Knowledge relating to optimization and architecture of video game technology and development - Superior written and verbal communication skills - Positive attitude and love of working with and motivating people - Superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills - Experience managing expectations and adhering to project scope/timelines between teams and leadership to hit milestones - Experience with game industry software tools like Jira production management software processes (Game Design, Prototyping, Project Management and QA) Our Studio: - Loves working with a diverse range of people - Loves to develop its employees personally and professionally and promote from within - Welcomes remote workers - Has an open vacation policy - Offers competitive compensation - Provides benefits for medical, dental, vision (W2 employees) - Offers life/AD&D coverage and long-term disability (W2 employees) - Offers the chance to work alongside Academy Award winning creatives and game industry veterans who have shipped some of the industry’s best selling games More About Wevr: Wevr is a leading interactive software company producing best-in-class virtual worlds.
