Unity Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Unity Engineer to join our growing mobile game studio, on a contract basis at first, with potential to become FTE, if desired down the road. This person will be one of a small handful of engineers and content creators, working on a project that's about 6 months into the build process. The ideal candidate will understand the game development process, best practices, and optimizing for slower mobiles in other countries. Role: Contribute to our mobile game library, and the story driven games within it. Collaborate with other engineers and company founders to ensure engaging gameplay. Estimate work accurately, make effective library/framework decisions and have input into the architecture. Continue improving our CI system / build pipeline and content pipeline. Document your work, building a body of knowledge about our system as we build it. Requirements: 5+ years working in Unity and other game engines. Expert understanding of Unity, C# and game optimization (Memory usage, draw calls, etc.) Knowledge of networking, security, and defeating attempts to ruin the game experience of others. Previous experience with a best-selling, or highly downloaded, mobile game or app, with an understanding of what happens when a game hits millions of downloads across the globe, and how to handle those issues. Communicate extensively - we like to discuss problems, find solutions and implement them together. Familiarity with agile development practices, Git/Gitlab workflows. Familiarity with up-to-date best practices (in-app reviews on Android, for example). Familiarity with localization techniques and best practices. Familiarity with PlayFab and testing frameworks would be superb. Pay negotiable, based on experience.
